BQ24079: BQ24079 IC power consumption in Battery mode

Part Number: BQ24079

Hi,

Customer raised question about the BQ24079 power consumption in the condition of IN=0V, OUT=BATT=3.9V, CE=L, SYSOFF=L, EN1=H, EN2=H, OUT at light load 5mA(~20mW). They got the BQ24079 power consumption is 0.756718mW. Is this power consumption is 0.756718mW make sense?

Best regards,

Randy Chen

  • Hi Randy
    This does not sound right.
They are reporting 0.757mW at 3.9V or almost 200uA of current. This would be over the 5.00mA of load current.
Looked at this in the lab and with a 5.000mA load the supply current was 5.006mA , device is dissipating only about 6uA of current, I do not see the 200uA reported by customer. Could this be tolerance stack up due to load or battery voltage, possibly slight measurement error?
