TPS65023-Q1: POWER GOOD for over voltage

Hi team,

I noted that tps65023-Q1 has Power Good feature, but I am not sure if VPGOODR (means rising), increasing -7%, -5%, -3%. but minus xx%.

Do you mean that increasing the output voltage over threshold (-7% to -3%) when over voltage condition happened?

Hi NY,

There are two specs for PGOOD threshold, VPGOODF and VPGOODR, and both are undervoltage. The difference between these is the hysteresis for PGOOD.

When Vout is at the target output, the PGOOD register bits are 0. Once the output voltage falls below VPGOODF (typ -10%), PGOOD bit will be set to 1. Then once the output rises above VPGOODR (typ -5%), then the PGOOD register bit will be reset to 0.

Hi Karl, thank you very much, now I understand. However, this device seems do not have OVP, while it has UVLO. do we have the way to get OVP?

Yada-san,

Many PMICs and PMUs only have UVLO that influence the PGOOD value.

OVP is less common. In order to suggest a PMIC that has PGOOD which is determined by UVLO < VOUT < OVP, I will need to know more about your system.

As of right now, I only know that you are using the TPS65023-Q1 which is auto qualified. For example, the TPS653850-Q1 is a device that monitors undervoltage and overvoltage but it is for functional safety applications. The TPS65218D0 monitors both UV and OV, but it is not auto qualified.
