Hi, I am working on the ISOLATED DC/DC converter using LM 5160 DNT IC.

The design variables are:

Vin= 9 to 36V

Vout = 5 V

Iout = 2A

I got the schematic from the WEBENCH power designer but I am not able to get the PCB layout.

The issue I am facing is the transformer compatibility with the circuitry. The transformer suggested n software tool has 6 windings and makes me confused on how to connect that. Can anyone please help me out?

Hello Pooja,

With the "Export" button, you should be able to export your Webench files to Schematic and Board layout files. Have you tried to export your design?

Hello,

You are correct. This does not have an Export button. The PCB export is not supported for this design.

Can you share the part number they are recommending for the coupled inductor?

Hi Katelyn,
Thank you for the verification and sharing the document. The part number suggested by the WEBENCH for the coupled inductor is "VPH3-0047-R".

Hello,

For your design you only need two of the six windings. You can see an example of how to connect the coupled inductor in the LM5160 Flybuck Design Guide:

This design uses the following component, which has only 2 windings:

Hello,

Yes, the issue I am facing is the required isolated output which is 5volt and 2amps (10Watts). For this rated output if I search for the coupled inductor it is more then 1 coil.

So this is the design that I have got from the TI software simulator. If you check the coupled inductor it has 6 windings. Also, I have made the circuit in which I am getting correct result till the primary of the coupled inductor but an isolated output I am not getting the desired value. Please let me know if it is not clear. Thanks

Yes, I also see this coupled inductor has 6 windings when I look at the datasheet.

Have you made the circuit so that it matches the WEBENCH design which you shared? Are you using this same coupled inductor as recommended by Webench? What are you seeing at the isolated and non-isolated outputs as well as at the switch node - can you share a waveform?
