BQ24650: Correct value of R2 in Typical application diagram

Part Number: BQ24650

Hi,

I am using BQ24650 Ic for charging the 3.7V, 6600 mAh battery and the input supply form the solar panel is 12V, 30W. I want to charge the battery as well as want to supply the load circuit (Application circuit) of up to 4.2V, How can i make the circuit for this ?

I have changed the value of R2 which was 499k to 79.19k for 3.7V of battery (PFA). For the application circuit (from direct solar panel : Vsys) supply should i connect it to parallel to battery or connect a 4.2V LDO.

  • Hi Atul,

Sorry, I'm not sure I fully understand your question.

In the Application Circuit schematic, J2-VSYS connects to your system, and J2-VOUT connects to your battery. There is no need to make a special circuit for this or connect VSYS in parallel with VOUT since the Application Circuit already takes care of this.

However, since your VSYS is the 12 V input from the solar panel (minus the diode drop across D1), you will need to include some sort of voltage step-down stage to step this voltage down to the desired 4.2 V system voltage.
