TPS61230: Confusion understanding Iq

Part Number: TPS61230

Hi Support team

My customer and I are a bit confused when it comes to the Iq in the data sheet. and you answer and explain the three questions below?

  1. Can you confirm the lower current is PFM mode an the higher current is PWM mode?
  2. Also, what effect does the input voltage have on this, one stated 5V in and the other 4.2volts in?
  3. Last, what does the comment VOUT = NO SUPPLY, do you mean no load?

Thanks

Jeff Coletti

  • Hi Jeff,

This is an application note about the IQ for your reference "www.ti.com/.../slyt412.pdf".
there are two IQ definition in TPS61230, 35uA (Typical) and 200uA (Typical). The test condition of the first one is the same as the application note. In the second one, the VOUT is floating, so the device operates at zero cycle mode, so this IQ is only used in zero cycle mode.

The IQ increase a little with the input voltage . I'm not sure about your question 1.
