BQ24075T: Reverse protection

Part Number: BQ24075T
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24072T

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask BQ24075T?

We would like to understand the function "Reverse Current Protection".
We assume that Reverse Current Protection has two protections as follows;
- Vout -> VBAT
- Vout -> Vin
Which is the purpose for the protection?
Does this protection operate during both charge and dis-charge?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hello
    The BQ24072T has Reverse Current Protection on both Q1 (IN to OUT) and Q2 (OUT to BAT) to prevent current from exiting device to bus (IN).
    During battery dis-charge Q1 will prevent current from exiting device. Also Q2 will control current in both directions.
    The Functional Block Diagram (9.2) shows a simplified version version of Q1 and Q2. The actual device is more complicated and does have reverse protection.
