LM3492: Spec. of Device

Part Number: LM3492

Hi team

I will ask the question below.

Q1

I want to use dim1 and dim2 together.
Please share your notes when using them together.

Q2

The PWM voltage level is 0 to 5V.
Is it usable?

Q3

Please share data related to junction temperature according to current capacity.

Thanks,

TM

  • Hello,

    1) They are dimming inputs to the two channels, they can be sent the same signal.
    2) Yes, the thresholds are 0.7V and 1.17V for turn-off and turn-on
    3) This depends on what the headroom is, the board layout, the PWM frequency and the channel current, this is part of the entire design calculation process.

  • Hello Irwin

I am trying to use only one port.
Is it ok to leave Dim2 and iout2 open?

    Thanks,
    TM

  • Hello TM,

If you want one LED string use it this way: "The
two channels of the current regulator can work in parallel for only one LED string by connecting the IOUT1 and
IOUT2 pins together to provide an LED current of up to 400 mA. In this case, connect the DIM1 and DIM2 pins
together." This is from the datasheet, page 15.

You will have to cut the regulation current in half since both channels are providing current per the Rlim setting so if you set it to 100 mA you will get 2X 100 mA in the LED string.

    Regards,
