Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
When exporting a design to Autocad Eagle, what is the proper order of importing to reduce errors. Also, I am new to Eagle; what do I do with the XML file that is generated?
Hi Joseph,
XML file contains the description of the PCB(footprints, pin description, attributes, etc.). This is an auto generated file while doing exports.
Please find the steps below to import Schematic and PCB files in Eagle tool.
Schematic Import:
1. Unzip the downloaded folder files to local directory and Start Eagle tool.
2. Select "File"->"Open"->"Schematic" from the menu at the top of the screen.
3. Browse to your newly exported Eagle folder and select the ".sch" file extension.
4. Now you could see the schematic page.
PCB Import:
1. Unzip the downloaded folder files to local directory and Start Eagle tool.
2. Select "File"->"Open"->"Board" from the menu at the top of the screen.
3. Browse to your newly exported Eagle folder and select the ".brd" file extension. The PCB file is opened up now.
4. Planes/Copper will need to be repoured to update the polygon fills
5. Once the PCB is loaded, type "ratsnest" into the command line and press the Enter key. The polygons/copper should all be filled now.
6. Now you could find the PCB available in Eagle.
The above instructions could be also be found in the exported Eagle folder in 'Readme' text document.
Thanks and Regards,
