BQ24100: Not charging battery.

Hi everyone!

I have a problem.

When the input voltage is + 5V, the battery does not charge
When the input voltage is less than + 5V, the battery is charged.

I take schematic from datasheet (calculate only resistor on SET1 and SET2 pins (1.5A current)), but it doesn't work.

My scheme:

V input= 5V. Only one 18650 battery.

Have you evaluated the bq24100 official EVM? Were you able to make the EVM work for your battery? Thanks!

Sorry, I haven't EVM. But I use schematic from Official Datasheet.

Thanks for your reply.
I have a few questions:

1. When the power supply voltage (above + 0.3V battery voltage) and increase the voltage to 16V, the battery has to be connected?

2.Step for increasing voltage?

Maybe I'm not understanding something.

The input voltage may ramp up before or after a battery is inserted. When a battery is not present, the output (BAT pin voltage) switches between VOREG and GND until a battery is inserted. After a battery is inserted, the output (BAT pin voltage) is equal to the battery voltage. Please refer to section 8.3.16 Battery Detection on the d/s for the details.

I tried to supply input power through the power adapter (used to charge a mobile phone (5V, 2A)). There is a charge of the battery, but when the voltage on the battery is 4.1V there is no charge. What could be the problem?

Is there gauge or protection IC in between the charger output and the battery? Or does the battery have built-in gauge/protector?

Hi,
I don't use any IC between the charger output and the battery. I think the battery doesn't have build-it protector (because it's a cheap battery from Sanyo).
