BQ294504: Customer is requesting TI's part to replace S-8215A/B.

Hello Team,

My customer is requesting TI's part to replace S-8215A and S-8215B series product, I searched TI's website by cross reference and system show me the several parts with same function, such as: BQ294504, BQ7716, BQ7718, and BQ77PL157A4225.

For customer, same function is OK, so I checked their correct part number is: S-8215AAF-K8T2U and S-8215BAF-K8T2U. based on these 2 part number, can you suggest TI's correct part number to me? so I could promote them to my customer.

    Do you mean that BQ294711 can match with customer's 2 parts at same time?

    Actually, I'm not familiar with any battery management part, I'm afraid to spend too much time and finally suggest customer a wrong part, can you directly tell me the correct part number to match with S-8215AAF-K8T2U and S-8215BAF-K8T2U?
    (Low current consumption：1.6uA ( Typ ) S-8215A / 4.2uA ( Typ ) S-8215B)

    Hi David,
    The S-8215 series has 3~5 cell but BQ294711 has 2~4 cell, what reason you suggest this part? I noticed that BQ7718 has 2~5 cell so looks more match with S-8215, can you comment which one is more suitable for customer?

    Hi Martin,

    For S-8215AAF-K8T2U, here is an extract from their public datasheet

    bq294711 is the closest we have to this ABLIC device but is not a 100% match (OV hysteresis)

    Now bq7718 is probably the best device we can suggest (drop in replacement). we do not have the exact same configuration as ABLIC but the one in red below is the closest we have. It is also a drop in equivalent part to Seiko S-8215BAF-K8T2U 

    Please share the bq7718 datasheet to your customer and contact me directly if they could not use one of the parts already released.
