TPS62080A: About Input capacitor

Guru 21045 points
Part Number: TPS62080A

Hi Team,

I understand that a recommended value of bootstrap capacitor is around 10uF and this value depends on an application (Layout etc.).

However, I would like to know a recommended minimum effective capacity value.

Could you please let us know if you have any information?

And, if an effective capacity value is 2.2uF, is this TPS62080A operating correctly?

Regards,

Kanemaru

  • Hello Hideto-san,

    my pleasure to support you.
This device does not have a bootstrap capacitor. Are you maybe referring to the input capacitor?
In this case, a lower value of capacitance will allow an higher current harmonic content to flow towards the voltage source, increasing the EM noise. Usually an effective 10uF capacitance keeps this value under control.
  • Hi Emmanuel-san,

    I apologize for confusing you.

    Yes, your understanding correct.

I would like to know about input capacitor.

Our customer use 10uF but 2.2uF is decreased by DC bias.

Therefore, we would like to know a recommended minimum effective capacity value.

Could you please let us know if you have any information?
