TPS51200: How does PGOOD pin behave when power is NOT supplied to VIN pin?

Part Number: TPS51200

Dear Sirs or Madams,

Please let me know how PGOOD pin behaves when power is NOT supplied on VIN pin.

Does PGOOD pin sink current and set the signal line connected to it to Low when the power on VIN pin is OFF?

Or, whether PGOOD pin sinks current or becomes Hi-Z state is unknown while the voltage supplied on VIN pin is less than 2.375V?

Best regards,

Shinsuke Tanaka

  • Tanaka-san,

When VIN is not applied or VIN voltage is low, the PGOOD pin is not controlled, but there is some impedance between PGOOD pin and ground at this conditon.

If PGOOD pull-up resistor value is small and pull-up voltage rises up before VIN is appied, it is possible that PGOOD pin is pulled up to a certain value.

To avoid this situation, use VIN for pull-up voltage and use appropriate value (>10k is suggested) for pull-up resistor.

    Thanks
