REF5020: Does REF5020 could replace LM4140

Part Number: REF5020
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4140

Hi Team,

Customer is using our LM4140 in there project. However, they get a VSSOP package for LM4140 by mistake. Since we don't offer a VSSOP LM4140, so they need to get a replace part for them to test their board. They find that REF5020 has a VSSOP option and seem the main pin out are match, so does REF5020 could be used to replace LM4140?

Hope you could give some comments to this.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Will

LM4140

REF5020

  • Hi Will,

While both the REF5020 and LM4140 share similar pin outs , there is slight differences.
Pin 1/8 on REF5020 cannot be connected while on LM4140 it has to be.
Pin 3/5 on REF5020 must be floating if unused.
Due to this, they are not pin to pin so replacing one with another sometimes requires a layout change.
