bq24155 will this part supply power to the load when the battery is disconnected?

Thanks.

  • Emilija,

Yes. However, there are some conditions as explained in the Power Up Without Battery and Battery Detection sections of the datasheet on page 15. In summary, you will need to be in host control mode, not default/32s mode, or the charger will enter battery detection mode. Assuming you are in the host control mode, the host can write to I2C register to disable termination, which should restart the buck converter.
  • Hi Jeff,

So I would need a separate micro processor to control this IC? My whole system will be powered by the charging circuit so i wouldn't be able to power up a separate micro. Do you have a solution which would work on its own? I'm looking for a switching charger or anything simple more efficient comparing to linear charger.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Emilija

  • Emilija,

BQ25606 is a standalone switching charger that does not require a micro-processor.
