UCC27201: UCC27201DR and LM5101AMNOPB Which one is better for Sync BUCK MOSFET Driver

Part Number: UCC27201
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5101A

Hi TI EE:

Please help to make sure what is the difference between UCC27201DR  and LM5101AMNOPB.

I want to use one of them two  as Sync buck Mosfet driver.

In my case,Vi:24V,Vout:10~24V,Fsw:600KHz.The max duty of high side mosfet nearly 100%.

Thank you!

  • Hello Cheney,
As you have likely seen from the datasheets the LM5101A and UCC27201 are similar half bridge drivers with 100V HS voltage rating and 3A drive current.
The differences are mainly in two areas. The VDD rating of the UCC27201 recommended is up to 17V Vs 14V for the LM5101A, so the UCC27201 allows for higher VDD, or more operating margin with a typical 10-12V VDD range.
The UCC27201 has a little better propagation delay and delay matching which may be a consideration at the higher Fsw. The delay matching of the UCC27201 is 7ns maximum Vs 10ns maximum for the LM5101A. This slightly better delay matching may help optimize the dead time of the high side and low side MOSFET. Both parts can likely work in your application, but the UCC27201 does have improved operating parameters.
Please confirm if this answers your questions.
