The temperature characteristics of LM338 TO-220 PKG products are displayed from 0 to 125 degrees. is this right?
For reference, the LM138 is between -55 degrees and 125 degrees. What different?

    Hi ,

    Yes, the LM338 was designed, characterized, and tested for an operating junction temperature range of 0 to 125 C. While LM138 and LM338 share enough characteristics that National Semiconductor chose to write one datasheet for both devices, the LM138 was designed, characterized, and tested for the extended temperature range of -55 to 125 C. The difference between the two devices is the temperature range in which they are intended to operate.
