UCC2897A: low side reset for 400V application

Part Number: UCC2897A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28019A,

Dear All,

the input voltage of the active clamp forward converter is 400V ( from UCC28019A ).

i have two question about low side reset using UCC2897A in a 400V application:

1) does low side reset work for 400V application?

2) if the answer of the question 1 is true, what are the considerations?

Best Regards,

Ras

  • Hello Ras,
Yes you can use a low side reset with a 400V input.
The only issue is in finding high voltage P channel FETs suitable for your application.
You will be able to find these parts but the number of suppliers that makes such parts is limited and they probably cost more than the N channel equivalent.
It is usually more convenient to drive an N channel with a pulse transformer from the high side.
Please check PMP7410 for a suggested design
