LM5176EVM-HP: noise in stock EVM board

Part Number: LM5176EVM-HP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5176

Hi,

Is there any reference design for the RC snubbers which is proposed by TI.

Also, where should they be added and what is the value for the given switching frequency.

Has the noise reduced using snubber?

  • Hi Kartheek,

    Thanks for choosing TI part.

What does the noise mean? Does it means high SW spike ?  If it means the SW spike, then yes, a snubber could help reduce the SW ring.

Could you please share Vin range, Vo, Io to us? And could you please attach the waveform of the SW node?

  • Hi Helen Chen,

I don't have the evaluation board. I was thinking of using the IC LM5176 for my design and I have stumbled upon this question in the forum while reading about the IC.

Can you please suggest a design change to eliminate the switching noise, as detailed in the following post

  • Hi Kartheek,

In your attached post ,the questioner thought he has already use a very small loop to test the SW spike, but actually, the loop is not small enough, and the probe is very close to the inductor, so some noise will coupled into the probe. which makes the result poor than the real.

You can add the RC snubber according to the attached file.1616.Snubber .pptx
