Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24650, BQ24232, BQ24210
Requirements/Situation: Basically, I need a charger IC capable of solar charging a LiPO4 battery (3V7, 440 mAh) from a 6V0 1W solar array (or similar -- peaks to about 7V2 in direct sunlight), but also has power path management to load (load sharing, dynamic power path management, many names...) for a relatively low power application (20mA current pull regular, up to 70mA during sampling of sensors).
I started using a non-TI part, which didn't work out so well, presumably because I hadn't considered the quiescent current (it works, just not very well -- the device turns on and off as sunlight is available and battery isn't charged at a high enough rate to be actually feasible for application -- and the problem isn't the solar array, which I checked was outputing about 350mA in peak sunlight at 7V2, and around 90mA with cloud cover around 5V5), so I'm back at square one. I want to use the BQ24092, but the problem is it requires at least 100mA + operating current for charging (which means it will be bad in low light, like when the sun is setting...), and the big capacitor up front is unspecific, and could take significant time to charge before the device actually turns on.
Any solar charger ICs with good low-light performance and *most importantly* power path management?
Thanks so much! Any help is super appreciated! :)
