LM3492: Maximum current regulation

Part Number: LM3492

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask LM3491?

Our customer would like to use LM3492 with LED current=230mA×2, however the current is upto 200mA at each output port.
Just in case, is it impossible to configure this?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hello Hirotaka,

That is beyond the rating of the part and not recommended however you can use two LM3492s as single LED drivers. They would be rated at 400 mA each. This is explained at the bottom of page 15:

"The device sets the current of an LED string (ILED) from 50 mA to 200 mA by using an external resistor RIREF
connected between the IREF pin and ground. Figure 21 describes the relationship between ILED and RIREF. The
two channels of the current regulator can work in parallel for only one LED string by connecting the IOUT1 and
IOUT2 pins together to provide an LED current of up to 400 mA. In this case, connect the DIM1 and DIM2 pins
    together."

    Best Regards,
