UCC28633: adjustable Vout circuit.

Part Number: UCC28633
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP30092

Hi all.

A customer wants to develop a common charger.
It is going to supply a charging voltage with a lithium-ion battery that can charge 3 to 6 cells.
Please refer to PMP30092 with UCC28633 for information on how Vout can vary by 10 to 20 V@6A.

Thank you.

  • Please clarify your request: do you want to make one converter to cover 10V to 20V @6A, then do you determine charge up by additional circuit or by this converter? Or you want to adjust output voltage manually for different output voltage?
  • Thank you for your reply.

    Ask again by mistake.

The schematic in PMP30092 specifies 2min=on and 18min=stand-by.
Wouldn't it be a problem to use it for battery charging voltage ?

Because it is understood that more than 150W of output is used for forward rather than flyback, it is difficult to decide whether or not design it with forward method rather than flyback.

    Thanks.
  • If your application needs continuously operating at 160W, you will need to re-design to meet your specs. PMP30092 is designed for operation at 162W with 2min on and 18min standby so the design uses the components ratings for such operation. If your design has different operation conditions, you cannot use PMP30092.

There is no crispy line of power level for flyback and forward. It is ok to use flyback for 160W application as long as it can meet your specs including cost, and converter size.
