UCC27211A-Q1: ucc27211

Part Number: UCC27211A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27211

want to design a buck_boost (synchronous) converter using ucc27211 as gate driver but having issue to drive the boost side mosfet since have to take boost output from the drain terminal of mosfet so should i connect a diode there or is threre any way to go on with the mosfet

  • Hi Saad,

I'm an applications engineer with the high power drivers group and can help you with your question.

There are a few different configurations for a buck boost circuit, so I'm having trouble discerning which MOSFET you're talking about. Could you please provide a schematic with reference designators so I can better help you with this question?

From what you've said, it sounds like you're talking about a diode rectification boost circuit. Yes, you will need a diode there to deliver the inductor current to the output capacitors. You can replace this diode with a MOSFET to create a synchronous boost circuit which helps eliminate losses. The UCC27211 should help add/drive this synchronous rectifier MOSFET.

If this helped answer your question, could you please press the green button?

If you have further questions, feel free to reply in this thread.

    Thanks and best regards,
    John
  • Ah, just noticed that you have synchronous there in parens.

This TI design might help to understand the drive circuit of the boost side circuit.
