UCC27519A-Q1: UCC27519-Q1 DBV max peak current

Part Number: UCC27519A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG1020, UCC27611

Hi.

Quick question on UCC27519A-Q1 - what would be the maximum peak current when the device is supplied with 5V vdd ?

Thanks,

  • Hi Mohamed,

Thanks for reaching out to us, my name is Mamadou Diallo supporting low-side drivers in the High Power Drivers' team.

The maximum peak current is dependent on many parameters that I reference on the copied link below.

Additionally, you can estimate the peak current using VDD/Ron where Ron = internal + external impedance on MOSFET turn-on path.

However I would caution that this device has a UVLO turn-on threshold (max) right at 4.57V at room temperature, I would therefore advise to account for variations and transients occurring during system operation and give yourself/customer a bit more wiggle room to operate away from the UVLO threshold.

If the customer is driving a GaN FET, I can help suggest a dedicated GaN driver like UCC27611 or LMG1020 capable of operating at 5V with a stronger driver current capability at 5V.
