TPS2411: TPS2411 Driving Ability

Part Number: TPS2411
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC23513

Dear Team,

The customer seems have driving issue for 8 MOS here.

Do you have any suggestion to drive 8 MOS here?

Is using UCC23513 a good solution here?

  • Hi Kevin,

Could you explain what exactly the issue customer is facing?

The UV pin in the schematic is tied to GND, this means the device will not turn on as UV voltage is always below its threshold of 0.6V.

Total 4 set of MOSFET with each pair about 25nF of gate capacitance will take about 5-6ms to turn on.
Hotswap MOSFET needs to be within the SOA for 5-6ms and this depends on the inrush current.

If you could let us know the output capacitance and load current requirement we can calculate the inrush current.

Due to paralleling of MOSFET, there will be uneven inrush current distribution during startup. we may have to take sufficient margin for SOA calculation.

    Regards,
    Kari.
