Hello TI;

We have some TPS55165Q1-EVM, and we need to use this regulator as buck-boost to generate 5V (300mA) based on an input Voltage range from 3.5V to 9V.

We are using the User's Guide (SLVUAY1–November 2017).

There is a "Figure 3. Schematic Diagram—No Variations

And there is also "Figure 5. TPS55165Q1-EVM Schematic Diagram—Assembly Option".

1-Which one should we use as reference for the actual EVM?

2-Which one should we use as based to based our schematic for the requirements described above.

3-Why is there a difference between these 2 schematics?

3a- Why are the diodes and other components of Figure 3 removed in Figure 5?

3b- Not having these devices , could cause a mal function or performance degradation of the regulator?

Thanks for the question. Actually there's a typo error on the UG. You should refer to the Figure 4.

Figure 4. not for 'TPS55160Q1-EVM' , it is for the 'TPS55165Q1-EVM' assembly.

Dear Sir,

Figure 3 including all the components during the layout. While Figure 5 only includs the components needed for the test.

Because the layout both for the TPS55160 and TPS55165. TPS55160 need feedback resistor, while the TPS55165 needn't. So they share the same pcb, but not the same assembly.

For the RC snubber and the diode, it is not mandatory to add on the board. If the SW ring is low and the EMI is good. They are not needed. So in the real assembly, they didn't add them on the board.
