I need to following few data from TI regarding TPS7A7300 Power Supply

1. Load Transient Response and its test conditions with graph

2. IBIS Model or Spice mode of this part

3. Any simulation tool on transient response for this part and simulation setup

Hi Guangyi,

The Design and Development tab of our the product folders has links to the models for our devices. So you can find that at this link for TPS7A7300 and it has the model your are requesting so you should be able to use it to simulate the transient response.

As for plots of the transients, these are located in our datasheets. For TPS7A7300 specifically you can find them in figures 22, 23, 32, 33 ,34.

I did go through the datasheet and product information page and found out:

1. Pspice model of this part.

2. Transient response of this part.

I am using AWR simulation tool and import the netlist, it is not working and do not if you have something to match AWR model? For the transient response, I am quite sure how is this part circuitry conditions for testing the response, which means input capacitance and output capacitance etc(Fig.33, pg 23)

Hi Guangyi,

The unencrypted PSPICE model is what we recommend people to use when using other simulators, unfortunately we can't ensure that they will work with every simulator out there and we do not have any other models for this device.

Below are the standard conditions that apply to those figures (this is the same as for the load transient figures.

TJ = 25°C, VIN = VOUT(TARGET) + 0.3 V, IOUT = 25 mA, V(EN) = VIN, CIN = 10 μF, COUT = 10 μF, C(SS) = 10 nF, and the PG pin pulled up to VIN with 100-kΩ pullup resistor, unless otherwise noted.

Thanks for the quick response.

I downloaded TINA from TI and try to upload the Pspice file into it but seems TINA only accept xxx.ddb format. Not quite sure how to use it in the simulation and what is your simulation tool for your Pspice file.

Hey Guangyi,

I used the New Macro Wizard to import the unencrypted model and then created a quick example load transient circuit, see the attached file. You should be able to open that, run it, and use it as an example for your evaluation. Please note that these are models and may not represent exactly what the device will do, but we have EVMs you can order in case you want to see how an actual device performs on the bench.

Great! I can upload xxx.tsc file now. I could not find New Macro Wizard in the TINA simulation tool. Where can find this? how to generate tsc file?

Hi Kyle

I have one serious problem with my TPS7A7300 design and hope you can help me to solve the issue

1. Use Case

1). Use TPS7A7300 as voltage 3.3V/100mA power supply to feed to 32 PAs. I=100mA

2). We plan not to use power plan in this case but to use traces to feed to 32 PAs.

3). Each PA Bias trace length=9000mil, width=20mil,

4). each PA need to have decoupling caps 10pF, 3.9pF

2. Please feed back on this.

Does any of your colleague from TI have experience on Power Supply trace feeding PA bias instead of power plane(3.3V/1.2A) on TDD?

Any concerns or problems

TDD switching time is about 1.2ms

Hi Guangyi,

Unfortunately neither myself nor my team have come across the specific power requirements for TDD (Time Division Duplex) transmission. But if the load is going to be switching at high rates of speed then the inductance of the individual traces could cause spikes in the output voltage (dV=L*dI/dt). The bypass caps at each of the loads may be enough to decrease those voltage spikes but you may want to consider ways to adjust the amount of bypass cap you can add. For example you could either add additional capacitors at each of the loads (making them DNP to start with), or you could choose the package of your bypass cap such that you could swap your 10pF caps for another capacitor which is a higher value. For example, if you use an 0402 cap footprint you could get caps that are up to 100nF in that package and that would help decrease the risk of needing to change the board layout.
