TPS65185: PMIC draws high current

Part Number: TPS65185

Hello

We have based our design on the TPS65185EVM.
The TPS consumes high current if switched on. (about 500mA)

In our PCB is the winding start of the inductors L1, L2 is swapped compared to the reference design.
Does the inverted position of the winding start make the converter unstable?

Many thanks

Bernhard Schmidt

  • Hi Bernhard,

Are these currents pulsed, such as in Figures 5 and 6 in the datasheet, or a sustained 500mA current draw? If they are pulsed like the figures this could be expected behavior for inrush currents.

For the second question, is this referring to the orientation of the inductors? If so, rotating the inductors should not affect the stability of the converters, especially if there is decent separation between L1 and L2.

    Best Regards,

    Rick S.
