LM3424: for 8 A current requirement , can i use lm3424 as an led driver ?

i want to driver leds using lm3424. my current requirement is 8 A. can i use LM3424 for the same with modification in the passive components like mosfets, diode and inductor. I also want to know what is the meaning of output current = 5A in the specification (in the mouser AND ALSO ON PAGE NO. 11 OF DATASHEET).

Nisha,

The LM3424-Q1 is a controller with external NFET drive. 8A can be achieved with a large enough NFET. The gate driver is strong enough for a large NFET.
