TLC5943: Auto Display Repeat Function on Daisy Chained Drivers

Our design uses two daisy-chained TLC5943 drivers. We want to enable Auto Display Repeat Function as shown in page 20 of the data sheet (SBVS101 - December 2007).

The microcontroller shifts in Brightness control data 0xFF, so bit 7 is set to one for both drivers.

However, we see that only the first TLC5943 enables OUTn pins in the absence of blanking.

Is there an issue with Auto Display Repeat Function when multiple drivers are daisy-chained?

Hi, Alan,

There should not be an issue to use auto display in daisy chained.

Do you set BCSEL = high when you send the BC data for both of the device?

If so can you get the waveform of SIN SCLK LAT and SOUT for the BC data writing?

I want to make sure the data is sending correctly to the driver.

We are setting BCSEL appropriately.

I believe that BC data is written properly since we see proper driver output when Auto Display Repeat is not in use. We will work on obtaining SIN, SCLK, LAT, and SOUT data. I will update post when this is complete. This may take some time. We need to instrument the device.
