TPSM84624: TPSM84624

Part Number: TPSM84624
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMZ31710,

Hi there,

Do you have oscilloscope shots of sequencing and tracking functions? I could not find such pictures in the datasheet nor in the user-guide of evaluation-board.

Thanks & BR,

Ghasem

  • Hello Ghasem,

Let me see if I can find some scope shots for the tracking function.

For sequencing, the PGOOD flag from one device will feed the EN of the other. I don't expect the startup waveform to look any different than Figure 14 in the datasheet. Ven will basically be the PGOOD signal from the other device.

    Cheers,

    Denislav

  • Hi Denislav,

Thank you very much for your message.

I know that start-up waveform should like like the one you have in Fig. 14. But I would like to see start-up of two modules at the same time.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    BR,

    Ghasem

  • Hi Ghasem,

I am in the process of obtaining two EVMs to test for the SS/TR functionality.

Alternatively, the LMZ31710 datasheet may help provide more understanding the characteristics of the two output voltage rails during either sequencing or tracking applications. For reference, please check out Section 7.3.18 of the LMZ31710 datasheet specifically Figure 36 and Figure 38. I would expect the waveform of the TPSM84624 in SS/TR applications to have similar characteristics.

When I obtain the EVM and can perform these two tests, I'll get back to you with more specific waveform for the TPSM84624 if you are still interested in it.

    Regards,

    Jimmy

  • Hi Ghasem,

I wanted to give you a quick update. I have received the two EVM board and will be in the process of capturing the sequencing and tracking waveform. I hope to provide a reply by end of today or latest tomorrow.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Regards,
    Jimmy

  • Hi Ghasem,

I've attached a compressed folder of the test results for sequencing and tracking functionality of the TPSM84624 power module.

    TPSM84624_Tracking_and_Sequencing.zip

The sequencing and simultaneous tracking schematic can be seen in Figure 22 and Figure 23. In my setup for sequencing, VOUT 1 (5V rail) starts up first and the PGOOD voltage asserts high on the EN of VOUT 2(1.8V rail). This means there will be a delay in startup of VOUT 2. For simultaneous tracking, both VOUT 1 and VOUT 2 EN is tied together so their startup ramp rate will be the same. Of course VOUT 2 (1.8V) will regulate earlier than VOUT1(5V).

I would recommend you get our TI EVM to further evaluate the power module's capability and features.

    Regards,

    Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

Thank you so much for the pictures.

    Best Regards,
