BQ24232HA: Application of ISET

Part Number: BQ24232HA

I was wondering what the function of ISET is. The datasheet for this part is a bit confusing as to what exactly I should expect from this pin. The section below in particular makes it seem like I can monitor the current being drawn from the battery, however other sections (as well as the name) imply that the pin is used to set the charging current level for the battery. I would appreciate any clarification on this. Thank you

  • Hi Romario,

These are actually both correct! The resistor used at Iset is used to set the charging current level when the device is in CC Fast Charge mode. Outside of CC mode, the charging current varies depending on the battery voltage.

This is where it can be helpful to know the charge current and where the Vset calculation comes in.
