LM46002-Q1: DCDC Converter PCB layout : Is it required to remove copper on other side below inductor?

Hello All,

I am designing PCB, having DCDC converter with LM46002-Q1 part.

I found one previuos board having copper removed from other side of inductor.

check attached image, showing bottom side of PCB, copper removed from area having inductor on top. PCB is of two layers.

Is it ok to remove copper from other side of inductor or Can i keep it as it is?

Does it affect radiated emission level? or what other parameter will affect due to this?

Please suggest/help.

Note : As per application note/ recommended Layout, there is copper on bottom side of inductor.

It is OK either way; with or without copper under the inductor.

In some cases it is best to have the copper under the inductor for EMI.

However, we have found that every case is different.

I will keep he ground in new design, because with previous design, its failing by little margin in RE test.
