UCC27201: Test condition in datasheet

Part Number: UCC27201

Hi team,

When I go through the datasheet on the test conditions of electrical characteristics, it says No load on HO or LO, I'm a little confused because normally there should be at least some cap load?  are you connecting the output directly to the VDD and GND and measuring the current? Also does this imply that under no condition the current of HO and LO can exceed the specified value?

Thanks and regards.

  • Hello George,

There is a set of default test conditions that apply to the majority of the parameters. There are also parameters such as output rise and fall time where there is a capacitive load on the LO and HO outputs to indicate the driver performance driving a load.

Many of the parameters such as UVLO, quiescent currents (not switching) etc are not dependent on the driver load. So there is no impact on the parameters with no LO and HO load. Some timing parameters such as propagation delay are more accurate with no load on LO or HO so the output rising and falling time does not impact the measurement.

The rising a falling time with the 1000pF load and 0.1uF load are an indication of drive strength repeatability. The driver peak current ratings are listed as typical values and were verified during validation and simulation by shorting the outputs to GND or VDD/VHB and preforming a short pulse test.

Confirm if this addresses your questions, or you can post additional questions on this thread.
