LM5032: How is the average inductor current of a interleaved boost converter calculated?

Part Number: LM5032

The equation is given in the application report http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snva335a/snva335a.pdf. The equation in question is Equation 4. I was wondering how this equation is derived and what assumptions were made during derivation.

  • Hello Emir,

Equation 4 relates the peak inductor current to the average and peak to peak inductor current.

You can see from the attached waveform that the peak value of current is equal to the average value IL plus one half of the peak to peak current.
