UC1834-SP: UC1834

Part Number: UC1834-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UC1834

Respected Sir/Madam,

In UC1834-SP, fault alert pin is an open collector for a steady state operation and for any fault condition it would can be pull up with a resistance to get an pulse for any fault. I have already refer the datasheet of UC1834 and Application Note (VERSATILE UC1834 OPTIMIZES LINEAR REGULATOR EFFICIENCY).

If I am want to use this linear regulator for a negative voltage also using fault alert for under voltage protection what would be the possible ways please send a configuration for it ?

I want to know what kind of waveform would appear at fault alert or what kind of connection is to be made for negative voltage for using fault alert pin for protection ?

Thank you,

Regards

  • Hey Meet,

The final picture in the datasheet shows a basic schematic of what it would look like.

A simple resistor divider on the output would do for the under voltage.

This will only set the fault alert pin, and you will have to implement external circuitry for what you wanted to do with the flag.

I'm confused because it sounds like you answered your own question.

    You asked:

I want to know what kind of waveform would appear at fault alert or what kind of connection is to be made for negative voltage for using fault alert pin for protection ?

    You also say that:

(UC1834) is an open collector for a steady state operation and for any fault condition it would can be pull up with a resistance to get an pulse for any fault

This statement is correct and answers the question you asked.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

  • Thank you Daniel, It is working.

Yes I knew that I had to pull up the signal through resistor but was thinking for any another configuration if possible because i wanted to use the fault alert pin as shutdown pin for the given linear regulator.

Sorry to disturb you for this small issue.

I had solved the problem for my circuit design, but i am very much appreciate the response from your side for the solution daniel.

    Regards,
