BQ2060: Access registers

Hi,

We have a customer that is needing instructions on how to access the BQ2060 control registers as below:

I need to get access to the BQ2060 control registers to reset and update an existing battery control circuit.

I do have the EV2200-60 version 3.0.1 software, I simply need an interface and was hoping that the Thumbus2300 would connect between my PC and the BQ2060 chip. If not I could possible write my own i2c interface and use a micro-controller to upload the data to the BQ2060 chip's relevant registers. But I was hoping for a simpler solution.
Clearly this is an obsolete chip and I do not need the complications of the EV2400. Any alternative solution would appreciated. However I did think that the Thumbus2300 was indeed a SMBus interface. So I'm a little confused to be honest.

I also have Battery Management Studio, could I use the Thumbus2300 here? and perhaps select an equivalent chip that would be close enough to the BQ2060 chip?
