BQ24072T: Slowly ramp up input current?

Hello, I am planning on using this part with a USB C port detector that will be able to determine USB charging. If this part attempts to pull 1.5A and the source doesn't have that available, will it scale down the current attempting to be pulled even if set to the max?

Hi Tracy,

If your device attempts to pull 1.5A and the source does not have that available, the device will first reduce output voltage. If VOUT drops to VDPPM, DPPM occurs and charge current will be reduced to maintain VOUT and no termination becomes disabled.

If the current draw continues to increase past this point, the device will enter Battery Supplement Mode.

You can find this information in section 9.4.12 (DPPM Mode) and 9.4.1.3 (Battery Supplement Mode) of the datasheet.
