UCC28517: UCC28517 EVM

Part Number: UCC28517
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28511, UCC28513

Hello team,

my customer is planning to use the UCC28511 and UCC28513; they bumped into the UCC28517 EVM and from the schematic shown there, they wanted to know if some components could be not mounted.

Figure 3 shows the circuit:

- on PKLIMIT and MOUT, the diodes are suggested or mandatory?

-the capactior on IAC is suggested or mandatory?

- on ISENSE2, the whole circuitry that blinds the measurement is suggested or mandatory? Is there an internal hardware "blind" process within the chip?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Adrian

  • Hello Adrian,

    • These diodes are required. Their function is to limit any negative voltage on PKLMT or MOUT to one diode drop.
    • The cap on IAC is also required. It is selected so as to filter out any switching noise and is chosen not to be so large as to distort the input rectified AC signal.
    • The circuitry that you refer to on ISENSE2 creates a leading edge blanking signal that pulls down on ISENSE2 as the flyback FET is initally turned on.
This eliminates any initial spike on ISENSE2. It is probably not required because there is also a small filter on the ISENSE2 input.
This small filter is comprised of R11 and C13

    Regards
