ISO5451: ZENER IN DESAT PIN

Hi Team

I have a question about a recommended connection for DESAT pin in ISO5451, where I should to connect a zener diode in parallel to the 220pF capacitor and I'd like to know how I could calculate the reverse voltage in Zener that I should use?

Hello Uriel,

The zener diode should be located close to the gate driver IC pins to limit the voltage at the DESAT pin. The Zener diode can be anywhere above the DESAT threshold voltage and below the maximum voltage of the pin, which is less than VCC2. The EVM gives the example using a 12V zener diode, MMSZ5242B-7-F (as shown in the User's Manual).
