UCC25710: Available range

Part Number: UCC25710
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27712

Hi, team.

Can the UCC25710 be used for 3kW / 10A applications?

Is it possible to operate by inputting a 5kHz, 2us width pulse to the DIM pin?
Please tell me the maximum frequency and pulse width that can be output from the LEDSW.

Best Regards,

  • Hello,

I have seen LLC converters designed for 3 kW.  The controller itself is not the limitation.  It is the power components selected for  your design.

You will most likely need to drive multiple FETs in parallel which will require gate drivers.  You could use the UCC27712 half bridge drivers for multiple pairs of FETs (1.8-A/2.8-A, 620V).

Generally PWM diming is done at low frequencies at about 200 to 500 Hz.  With this input range you can PWM dim down to 1% duty cycle.

Is there a reason that you have to drive the diming frequency up to 5 kHz?  Also that high frequency may cause issues with your voltage loop.  I am not sure this is a good idea and would advise against it.

    Regards,

  • Hi Mike,

Since we are considering driving a laser diode with this IC, high-speed dimming is required.

Is the dimming frequency 500Hz and the pulse width 20us the limit value?
