bq24156A: What is the purpose of the Charge Current Sense Voltage [LOW_CHG], and what significance does 22.1mV have?

On the bq24156A, what is the purpose of the Charge Current Sense Voltage [LOW_CHG], and what significance does 22.1mV have?

  • In the I2C register, there is a bit called LOW_CHG which forces the charge current to 325mA. To get this current, the voltage across the Rsense resistor is regulated to 22.1mV. The default setting for the LOW_CHG bit is '1', which means that if one wants to charge with more current, this bit must be set to '0'.
