DCP010512B: Elevated output

Part Number: DCP010512B

I have a DCP010512B that in a single rail configuration a +5VDC input results in a 6.8-6.9VDC outpuit id there a minimal current draw requirement or is it a bad part. I am driving a handful of logic IC's and not drawing a lot of power?

Hello Mike,

What are the system requirements you have?

It may appear that an inapprioriate device was selected for your design...allow me to help out here.

To understand load current vs load regulation, you can find said plots in datasheet and they may be helpful in providing answers to your questions

If tight regulation is need, as well, simplicity, for low load current, LDO might be better option,.

THis is for a medical device that is also a legacy design. The isolation is a key design feature.The loads are the output side of 4 HCPL 2630 opto iisolators, 2 74HCT240 Octal drivers and a IL715 ISO driver THe original design for the isolated power is the same

Hi Mike,

Because these are unregulated/isolated power module the output load regulation can be above the typical expected range if there is no minimum load. Generally it is recommended to have at least 10% loading to be in regular load regulation as detailed in Section 8.3.6 and 8.3.7.
This can be achieved by having a "dummy load resistor" between VOUT and GND.
