TPS23730: EMI compliance for isolated, non-synchronous flyback configuration with 12V output

we like to use the TPS23730 in isolated, non-synchronous flyback configuration with 12V, 1A output as described in the reference design slvu160. Does the non-synchronous configuration has a negative effect to the EMI behavior in respect to the synchronous configuration? Do you have any EMI reports for this configuration like in your guide line slua469?

    Thank you for your interest in TI PoE solutions. 

    For 12V flybacks, I would always recommend a diode-rectified (non-sync) over a sync because we have found sync flybacks are only more efficient at 5V and lower, and the diode is better at blocking reverse current at higher voltages. So regardless of EMI performance, if you are designing at 12V flyback, I would recommend a diode rectified. 

    The slua469 is a paper on EMI, and the principles discussed can be applied to more parts than just the TPS23750. 

    Please also note, the TPS23730 is one of our high power parts, up to 50W. Since you are only doing ~12W of power, I would recommend the TPS23755 or the TP23753A. Both parts have 12V/1A designs you can review.

    thanks for your reply regarding the EMI performance and the hint with the TPS23730.

    It seems that transformer in the reference design for the TPS23730 has a smaller footprint than the one used for TPS23750 which might be better for us.
