Hello everyone,

I bought TPS92682EVM-069 and I have a question about its out of box operation. Should the system drive the output LED's immediately after taking it out of the box, after connecting the signal to the PWM pins? I would like to test EVM to start without programming via SPI. Is it possible like this "out of box"?

I will be grateful for your response.

Hi Dariusz,

The TPS92682 will need to be programmed thru the SPI before it can operate. You need set up the internal registers to program the part and also enable it with SPI.

thank you very much for your answer. This is what I guessed, without SPI configuration, the output is still on(high state). I was able to communicate with TPS via SPI, I also have parity calculation and successfully read registers from device. Is there any minimum configuration (which registers to what values) to write to just run external PWM control? As soon as it works, I will continue to test the rest of the configuration.

Hi Dariusz,

I assume you have the TPS92682EVM-070. With the PWM input to the eval board and with the evaluation GUI you can set the appropriate registers for your testing. Please look at figure 50on page 40 which is the GUI control panel and set the V/I Adjust DAC to a value of about 1/4 scale by sliding it to the right for the channel that you are using and want to enable. This set the current level on the LED. You can slide the slope to the left for value of 3 then click on the channel enable and it will enable the current to the LED. The current should be PWM'ing on the LED from you PWM input.

Please read the data sheet along with the following the evaluation document to fully use the TPS92682.
