LP8758-E0: Drop out of 0.7V

Part Number: LP8758-E0

Hi,  As the output stage is P channel,  can you explain as it is not clear from the block diagram of the chip, why the top P channel device would not operate in 100% duty cycle.  I understand the device is not regulating.  Or if I ask the question in another way if I dont have 0.7 volts between Vout and Vin,   say 3 to 2.5V  what does the device actually try to do? Thanks in advance

  • Hi, Ajayt,

I think it's just a very conservative specification. I tested 300mV Vdrop, its output still have very good regulation with a little high ripple and little worse transient load response when comparing with what datasheet specified.
