LP87525-Q1: Switching Node probing issue

Part Number: LP87525-Q1

Hi Team,

We are using LP87525BRNFRQ1 in our design to get 2 different 2 phase output of 0.855v each.

while probing the switching node the output of the particular power rails is affected. On further debugging a short to GND issue on IC side is observed, we cheked the pin to GND impedence it shows short on particular switching pin alone. We have observed the same issue twice

Can you please provide any precaution required to be taken or the any other information to overcome from these issue

  • Hello Hari,

When probing the SW nodes when bucks are running care must be taken not to short the SW pins to GND. Even shorting them momentarily with the probe can cause damage to the internal FET. So it is best to insert the probes in place so that they don't have to be held by hand, and only after this turning on the bucks.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Tomi Koskela
