UCC27516: I'm looking for a single drive IC

HI,

I'm looking for a single drive IC that can drive the gates of MOSFETs in boost chopper circuits used in PFC circuits.

As a condition
・Pulse signal voltage input to the device : 5V
・Device Vcc: 12V ⇒ Drive MOSFET with 12V pulse from device output
・No other functions required
・Cost-oriented
・Insulation is provided separately

I think UCC27516 is applicable, but are there any other recommended devices?

(PFC circuit specifications)
VIN : 100V-240V
OUT : 390V 300W

    Hello,

    For the basic low side driver as you describe in a PFC application, the UCC27516 will be a good, cost effective choice. In the same datasheet there is the UCC27517 which is the same driver in a different package which may be a little more cost effective. The UCC27516 will have better thermal performance since the thermal resistance is lower than the UCC27517, Confirm if the power dissipation  and temperature rise of the UCC27517 is acceptable in your application by reviewing the datasheet section 12.3, Thermal Considerations if you want to consider the UCC27517.
