Hi TI Team,
We are powering up charger chip for the first time and battery isnt connected on BAT pin.
So in this case, we just want to know what will be the system voltage when charger chip is powered for first time without connecting battery??

Hi Ning,
We have a different question from FAQ#1. In our case, STAT pin isnt blinking and also charging is disabled. We are powering the charger chip for the first time on our custom board without connecting connecting battery. We are getting 3.65V on VSYS. Is this voltage okay?
As per my understanding, VSYS voltage should be 4.2V. Please clarify to clear the doubts.
Hi,
Again referring to FAQ#1. It is highly recommended to get familiar with the device operations by testing the device EVM.
1. STAT blinks when BAT not connected
The device does not have battery detection function. When battery is not connected and charging is enabled by default, the device tries to regulate VBAT to charging voltage (VREG, 4.208V default) then terminate charging. After certain time, VBAT will drop below the recharge threshold and the device charges VBAT to charging voltage (VREG) again. So the charger status indicates between charging in progress and charging complete, so STAT pin blinks. Higher VSYS ripple is also related to the behavior.
If charging is disabled with /CE pin or by register bit, the device does not charge and STAT pin should not blink, VSYS is 150 mV above the minimum system voltage (VSYSMIN, 3.5V default) as well. Please refer to https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/791416 for the details.
Thanks,
Ning.
