LP38511: Availability of EVM for LP38511TJ-1.8/NOPB

Hi Team,

One of my customer is looking to consider LP38511 for one of their designs. They will be needing EVM for the same for evaluation purpose. Currently the EVM available is LP38511TS-1.8EV (which is having LDO in TO-263(KTT package). They want to consider LDO with TO-263 (NDQ) package. So can you please clarify regarding the following:

- Do we also have EVM which is having LDO with TO-263 (NDQ) package?

- Will it make any difference if we verify/evaluate the LDO in KTT package rather than in NDQ package? (Especially regarding the heat dissipation)

- What is the major difference in these 2 packages, as mechanical design is almost the same? Do we have any difference in the thermal pad in these two packages?

Hi Mayank,

You can likely fit the NDQ package on the EVM if you remove the KTT package component. The NDQ package has a slightly larger thermal pad so it may provide slightly better thermal performance than the KTT package. The datasheet lists these as having the same thermal performance however.
