BQ24090: bq24090 charging current at low temp

Part Number: BQ24090
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24092,

Hi team,

For bq24092 with Jeita, the charging current at 0 ~ 10 degree will be half the Iset.

however, for bq24090 without Jeita, what will be the charging current between 0 ~ 10C? Should it be equal to Iset instead of half the Iset?

My customer encounter charging current is half Iset at 2 degree C.

Regards

  • Hello SK

The charge current should remain at the set value while in constant current charge phase over temp.  But a number of factors can change this behavior.  If unit is tested with a battery it will change voltage and impedance over temp.  Battery may have a protector circuit that will change impedance over temp.  During the Constant Voltage phase the expect the battery current to change over temp.

Recommend testing with a battery simulator and closely monitor OUT Pin 10 to VSS Pin 3 at the IC.  Also monitor ISET Pin 2 to VSS Pin 3 at the IC.

I will contact you and we can discuss this problem further.
